Legionella Control Association Member

We are pleased to announce our membership with the Legionella Control Association (LCA) has been approved until August 2023.

Working with a contractor who is a member of the Legionella Control Association is hugely important because it means you can feel assured of the high level of service you will receive.

Our membership in the LCA, signifies our commitment to our internal management systems, and our compliance with the LCA Code of Conduct and Service Standards means that we can advise and guide our clients in controlling the legionella risk associated with their water systems.

Legionella Control Association Requirements

The LCA’s 9 service provider requirements require that members ensure their clients are made aware of their legal obligations about Legionella Legislation.

The HSE leaflet: A brief guide for dutyholders briefly describes the obligations of a duty holder regarding legionella.

Duty holder responsibilities

Under general health and safety law, as an employer or person in control of premises (eg, a landlord), you have health and safety duties and need to take suitable precautions to prevent or control the risk of exposure to legionella. Details of the specific law that applies can be found here in Legionnaires’ disease: The control of legionella bacteria in water systems.

Carrying out a risk assessment is your responsibility and will help you to establish any potential risks and implement measures to either eliminate or control risks. You
may be competent to carry out the assessment yourself, but if not, you should ask someone with the necessary skills to conduct a risk assessment. This can be done by someone from within your own organisation or from someone outside, eg an external consultant.
